Scott's Thought 4/13

Scott’s Thoughts

As a response to our Lenten study of the Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations, I am working on a system to expand our hospitality, outreach, marketing and evangelism ministries. One of the guiding principles will be to allow people to use their unique gifts in a meaningful way. The system is based on four teams that together create a ministry called the H.O.M.E. Team. I wanted to take this opportunity to give you the highlights of this expanded ministry and encourage you to become a part of the new H.O.M.E. Team. The teams are as follows:

H. = Hospitality Team
The Hospitality Team will be concerned with making people feel welcome within the church walls. This would include coffee fellowship, signage, greeting, Sunday secretary, ushers, greeters, hall helpers and other ministries as determined. This team’s mission is to embrace the practice of Radical Hospitality.
O. = Outreach Team
The Outreach Team will be charged with ministries outside the walls of the church. This would include calling visitors both on the telephone and in person, inactive member follow-up, and other ministries outside the local church walls as determined. The practice of Risk-Taking Mission and Service will be emphasized as a guiding principle. The Heart Teams will be a part of this ministry area.
M. = Marketing Team
The Marketing Team will be focused on promoting the ministries of Liberty United Methodist Church using up-to-date business tools such as our web site, direct mail, information technology, print advertising and other tools as determined to be useful. The primary focus for this team will be effective communication and promotion.
E. = Evangelism Team
The Evangelism Team will be focused on Intentional Faith Development through actively developing new and consistent ways to tell the good news of salvation through Christ. This team will work to develop plans for guest speakers, revivals, faith-building workshops, small group opportunities and other projects as determined.

Each team will have a team leader to coordinate the efforts and help steer the direction of their team and task force. I am sure that this plan will evolve as we go forward. If you have an interest in one of these ministry teams, please let me know. You will be hearing much more about this in the coming days. I feel extremely blessed to be a part of this church family and cherish the love and support we have for one another.

God bless,
Scott
