HIS Kids 1/6

On January 23rd, the “HIS Kids” will be making Valentine cards to be sent to shut-ins, elderly, ill, and servicemen.

If you have a special someone you would like us to include on our list, please notify Sondra Buell at 781-4554, ext 115. We could also use some Valentine stickers. Bring donations to Sondra’s office, room 212.

Bright Idea by Sondra Buell 1/6

After Christmas, it’s fun to organize your Christmas Cards into a prayer booklet or put them into a prayer box.

Throughout the year, as you have family meetings or family devotions, bring out a card or two and pray for that individual or family. It’s great to include prayers for the companies/businesses that send you greetings, too! Everyone will be blessed by this activity of offering up prayers, praises, and requests to Almighty God!

A.C.T.S. 1/6

Our LUMC Christian theater group for 4th-8th- graders, A.C.T.S. (Actors in Christ Through Theater and Song) will be presenting Narnia: the Musical on Sunday, January 27, 2008, at 4:00 p.m. in our sanctuary. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend.

Also, for NARNIA, we are in need of some assistance for building a few simple sets, or any lumber you may have available that you no longer need. In addition, if you have a large wooden "wardrobe" or something with large doors (large enough for our cast members to walk through it) we could use on stage for the wardrobe, please let Sharon Parker know by calling her at 616-7027.

LUMY 1/6

And here’s the List you have all been waiting for. We have selected a fine group of students to go to Guatemala to work with the Orphanage that our church supports. These students are awesome, hard-working and love the Lord. They will be fine representatives of not only our church, but of Christians everywhere!

Hillcrest Holiday!

Due to the generosity of Liberty United Methodist Church, items were provided to help a family start their life together in a new Hillcrest apartment, holiday gifts and food were provided for a family of four at Hillcrest, and individual children's gifts were provided for numerous children living at Hillcrest who hadn't been adopted by other organizations.

The outreach of Liberty United Methodist Church provided joy and hope for those who are working toward a hand-up rather than a hand-out.

Happy New Year!!

Mark's Remarks 1/6

Did you have a great holiday season? I don’t know about you but I’m glad to be back at the office. Holidays are wonderful, but a routine is a framework on which we can hang a normal life.
Bishop Schnase, our resident bishop for Missouri, has written a book entitled “Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations.” This morning we’re beginning a series of messages using the bishop’s topics as a stimulus for our worship.
Why would we do that? We certainly desire to be the best we can be. Much effort and many resources pour into our “church on the hill.” We want to do our best with them. But our chief reason is that in every way we want to represent and worship our Lord as best we are able. This helps us to be truly Christian, truly human and truly Methodist.
Come along with us as we explore what the Bible has to say about these topics and what our response, as a corporate body, might be.
