I recall one evening in the winter when I was in the 3rd or 4th grade. My dad and I were at the new church building site with one other layman named John Volkmer. We were cutting wood for the rafters for the first phase of a new church building. The walls were up, but the roof was not on, so the snow was actually coming in on us as we worked that evening by the light of a few bare bulbs.
That’s an experience that lasts in my heart forty some years later. I remember the night, and I recall the two men and the boy involved. It made an impression. Now there is a beautiful building there, on Missouri highway H, which continues to call all of the country area to faith and right living.
Have you seen the prayer bookmark? It’s, of course, here in your bulletin. It’s indeed a challenge to be involved in an endeavor such as building a new house of God. Our new house of God will continue to call people to Jesus long after most of us have passed to be with Him. We want the children to see our devotion in action, and more than that, become a part of it. They’ll long remember this occurrence, and perhaps they’ll hand the privilege along to their children.
Be in prayer for our whole building campaign.
We will have an all-day prayer vigil, May 1st, on behalf of this project and other
concerns. Please put that date on your calendar.
