Does Prayer Make a Difference in the Lives of People?
We believe it does because of the comments like these that we receive:
“I have been so uplifted by your continuing prayers.”
“I can never tell you how much your continuing support means to me. It always brings tears to my eyes and touches my heart when I think of the fabulous prayer team...You all are truly Angels here on Earth.”
“The power of prayer has blessed me with positive results.”
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace that transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7

LUMC Offers Multiple Prayer Ministries
Prayer Chain (email and telephone versions) are a way to get prompt notification of prayer needs that have been received by the church. Members of the prayer chain are urged to pause for a moment of prayer on behalf of the situation mentioned whenever a prayer chain announcement is delivered. In doing so, you’ll join more than 250 people who simultaneously receive word of a new request. To join the prayer chain, contact Rev. Scott Beard.
Prayers and Squares Quilt Ministry provides those in need with a tangible expression of our belief in the power of prayer to comfort, strengthen and heal. Quilts are made, and each knot tied by a member of the congregation carries with it a prayer on behalf of the quilt’s recipient. Stop to tie a knot and offer a prayer the next time you see a quilt hanging outside the worship space. Prayers and Squares meets to quilt on the second and third Monday of each month at 6:30 pm in the Study Center. Contact Mary Robinson or the church office for more information.
Cancer Prayer Team provides a vital source of prayer and support for those battling cancer. Prayer team members pray daily for specific individuals. They also gather monthly on the last Tuesday of the month to pray together with and for individuals with cancer. You can help this prayer team in a number of ways: by serving as a prayer partner, performing clerical duties, making follow-up phone calls, etc… A quarterly Healing Service is also conducted the last Tuesday of January, April, July, and October. Contact Kathleen Bird for more information.
Firm Foundations Prayer Ministry meets weekly to pray for requests received through the prayer chain and for the ministries and missions of LUMC. The prayer team is always open to additional members. Contact Lora Wiles for more information.
What other prayer ministries would you support? A group for parents praying for their children? A regular worship and prayer service? Contact Lora Wiles to share your ideas for new prayer ministries or to offer your
support to an existing group.
