When God's People Pray 02/08/09

Have Questions About the Lenten Small Group Study of When God’s People Pray?

Can You Help Me Find a Small Group to Join? Absolutely! Signup by filling out the blue sheet included in this VIEW, registering online at the church website www.lumcmo.org or contacting
Lora Wiles at the church.

How does Liberty United Methodist celebrate Lent? At LUMC, you’re invited to add something to your spiritual life each Lent by “giving up” some time to participate in a church-wide small group study.

What are the ways I can help make theLenten study a success? Participate! Signup early, open your home to host a group, or offer to facilitate a group (this is the easiest study to lead that we’ve ever done, and advance training will be provided).

What is Lent? Lent is a time of repentance and preparation set aside on the church calendar to prepare our hearts for Easter. Beginning on Ash Wednesday, Lent is often associated with giving up or sacrificing something from our daily lives.

What is the study for Lent this year? We’ll be meeting in small groups at church and in people’s homes for a six-week study of Jim Cymbala’s, When God’s People Pray. Talk with your friends about forming a small group (10-12 people is ideal).

Are there special worship opportunities during Lent? In additional to Palm Sunday and Easter services, plan to attend special services on Ash Wednesday (2/25), Maundy Thursday (4/9) and Good Friday (4/10). They are each uniquely planned to enhance your understanding of and participation in the season of Lent.

What if I’ve never been in a small group before? This is the perfect time to try one out for this 6-week study.

When do groups start meeting? Groups meet for 6 weeks beginning the first week of March.
When should I sign up? NOW!

Talking about prayer scares me. It scares a lot of people, but we’re called to be people of prayer; so come and learn together.
