Children's Ministries 2/22/09

The Children’s Sunday School lesson for today is a parable and can be found in Luke chapter 12, verses 13-21. A parable is a story Jesus told so people could know how to live. Today’s parable is about a farmer who was greedy; we call him the rich fool. The children will learn how important it is to share our blessings with others.

Here’s an activity you could do at home to demonstrate the parable:
Pop a LARGE bag of popcorn with your child. Put it all in one large zippered plastic bag to keep. Talk to your child about how long it would take him or her to eat that much popcorn. It might get stale before he or she could eat it all. Wouldn’t it be a good idea to share the popcorn? Divide the popcorn into smaller bags so that each family member gets some. Isn’t that what Jesus would like for us to do – share and not be so greedy like the rich farmer in the story?

The Children’s Stewardship Lessons for February have focused on “Our Presence.” When we are present, we receive the building blocks to live a better life! An added bonus . . . we get to see our friends!

Question of the Week
When I read the camp brochure (which is located in the foyer and narthex literature racks, or on-line at www.mocamps.org), how do I know which grade-level camp my child should attend?
All camps should be read as the grade your child will be entering this fall, 2009.
