Food Kitchen 2008 Report
2008 has drawn to a close with its joyS and sorrows, ups and downs, ordinary days and exciting days. Through it all we have the assurance that God is with us. Because we are so blessed in so many ways, we are to do as Jesus said in Matthew 25: 34-40, we are to feed those less fortunate. We are to feed God’s lambs.
This church has been serving the first Saturday of each month at the Food Kitchen in Kansas City, KS since November 5, 1983. Bill and I took over as coordinators in February 1995. We feel we should give a year-end report so you may see where your money is spent.
We received $6,616.25. Our expenses were $4,834.72. This included $3,521.80 to the food kitchen for overhead (manager salary, paper products, utilities, trash, cost per person and cost of drinks.)
The most important is the numbers OF people served. In the eleven months we served 2,630 adults and 491 children—a total of 3,121 ( Leawood Baptist Church took our turn in June.) We always serve second helpings. For some, this is their only meal of the day. However, in November and December the line did not stop on first helpings.
If you would like to join us, we have a sign-up sheet in the Narthex and FLC foyer the Sunday before we serve or call the church office. You also can show up on Saturday morning at 9:15 at the kitchen of the church.
This ministry would not be possible without the help of so many that volunteer their time, talents and financial resources. May you have a star in your crown.
Thank you,
Hazel and Bill Davidson
