The Children’s Sunday School lesson for today comes from Luke 4:14-30. Jesus was once a child, just like our kids, and Jesus did many special jobs when he grew up. He came to earth to fulfill the words of Isaiah’s prophecy – to do his ministry here on earth! Our children have special jobs, jobs in ministry. Ask your child, “What tools does Jesus give us to do his work?” and “What is the ministry God is calling you to do?” ie: collecting food and clothes, sending a card to a sick friend, singing in worship, reading the scripture in Bible Study or worship, etc.
Last Sunday, Ms. Katie Cramer–Eck from Hillcrest Ministries came to speak at the children’s Sunday School assembly. Since before Christmas, along with teaching the children about Stewardship we have been saving the children’s offering money to purchase a new dryer for Hillcrest Ministries. We accomplished our goal! Katie Cramer-Eck is so very thankful for the dryer and was delighted to talk to the children.
At the assembly we asked the children:
· Could just one of you have purchased this dryer by yourself? No, it costs a lot of money. But by putting all our offerings together, we accomplished a great thing for someone else!
On the same note: Could just one family bring enough offering to build our new church? No, that costs a LOT of money! But if we each do our part, giving the portion God asks us to give, and by working together we can accomplish great and awesome things for His children!
Veggie-Tales Party
Hey kids (and parents who can come - we’ll need help with supervision), on Monday, February 16, LPS has no school, so we invite you to a Veggie-Tales Party with Abe and the Amazing Promise! Meet Ms. Sondra in Wesley Hall at 10:00 am. We’ll be finished by noon. We’ll play some games, hear the Bible Story, eat some awesome snacks and watch the movie.
We’ll witness Bob the Tomato trying to bring the story of Abraham and Sarah to life, and learn of their wait for a promised son. We’ll see how their patience is tested when spitting camels and a film crew of zany French peas get involved. But whether we’re waiting on a promise from God or cookies from teachers or parents, we’ll learn that while being patient is never easy, the reward is always worth the wait!
REMINDER:
Kids’ Bulletins and Kids’ Worship Bags are available for your children during worship. After worship, please put the bags in the “Used Worship Bags” tubs so we can refresh and refill them before next Sunday.
