Children's Ministries 1/18/09

The children’s Sunday School lesson for today comes from Mark 1:4-11. They will learn that Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. The sacrament of Baptism, both Jesus’ and our own is a symbol that reminds us that we belong to God’s family and that God loves us very much! Ask your child what bird symbolizes baptism.

Throughout January, the children’s Stewardship lessons focus on “our prayers.” Before the children pray in class, they light a candle. This helps them focus and invites the Holy Spirit to be with them in their prayer-time.

During the past weeks we have been counting the children’s offering money, and have been saving it to help Hillcrest Ministries purchase a new dryer. Today during Sunday School, the children are invited to an assembly with Miss Katie Cramer-Eck from Hillcrest. We will have a “dryer blessing” and celebrate the fact that when we all work together and put our money together, great things can be accomplished!

Congratulations to the 5th-and 6th-graders who completed the Created by God human sexuality classes. Thanks to the three churches who participated: Gashland, North Star and Liberty UMC. Thanks to the parents who supported us and brought food, and thanks to those who served as small group leaders.
