Attention 5th-and 6th-Graders
You are invited to participate in a special upcoming event called Created by God. It will be held January 9-11, 2009, with an introduction class for the parents on Thursday evening, January 8th. Created by God is a study of human sexuality with a Christian foundation. It will offer both student and parent an opportunity to learn, grow and celebrate the fact that we have each been wonderfully created by God, and are called to responsible living as sexual beings. Registration forms are due this week. If you need a copy, or need additional information, please contact Sondra Buell at the numbers listed above.
In January the HIS Kids will be collecting items for Spofford Home for “Art from the Heart” such as: reams of construction paper; packages of tissue paper, pipe cleaners, popsicle sticks; coloring books; and notebooks (not spiral bound). ~ “HIS Kids” will sing again on February 8, 2009.
To my dear church family, co-workers, and friends,
Thank you very much for the special hugs, prayers, cards, meals, and tremendous support during the short 3 ½ weeks of my father’s illness. Dad passed away into the arms of Jesus on December 8th, right during my busy time of Advent Journey and the Childrens’ Christmas Program. I’ve always known that LUMC was a special church family, but it was absolutely confirmed when many dear souls stepped up and “took over” for me during this difficult time. I don’t know how to express my deep-felt gratitude, except to say God Bless you real good. I also want to thank the staff members who came to my dad’s funeral up in Nebraska. That meant more than you will ever know! With love, Sondra and Mark Buell
The Stars of Christmas”
Many thanks to the Advent Journey Committee stars: Pat Deitrick, Anne Elkins, Jane Longfellow, Kerry Stufflebean, and Barb Walters for the wonderful job they did planning and preparing for Advent Journey. Thanks to the many people who helped prepare items, and to those who made cupcakes! Thanks to the Shopkeepers, the youth who helped at the Advent Café, those who per-formed at the talent show, and the set-up and clean-up crews. Wow, everything turned out beautifully! God Bless you each and every one! May HIS star shine brightly in you all year long
In December, the “HIS Kids” Club 45 class served at the Kansas Food Kitchen. Along with serving, they delivered 300 hygiene bags. Thanks, kids, for reaching out in great love!
