Did you know?
LUMC is blessed to have a dedicated and talented Building Committee. Members offer experience in building construction, financing, banking, legal, architecture, marketing, technology, communications, civil engineering, administration, cooking, spiritual and missions leadership. This group is committed to discerning God's will for our church. Every decision is given prayerful consideration and all opinions are welcomed and encouraged. If you see a member of the Building Committee, please tell them thank you and lift this group up in prayer as we move forward into 2009.
Recent Building Committee Activity:
· After reviewing 8 proposals from general contractors in November, the Building Committee interviewed three very competent finalists on Dec. 8th. We are excited and impressed by the quality and high interest of the contractors partnering with us. Some follow-up information was requested and a final recommendation will be brought to the Building Committee on January 15th for approval.
· Dake-Wells presented a summary of their findings from the follow-up master planning meetings at the committee meeting on Dec. 8th. The approximate square footage of phase I based on these findings is 62,000, an increase of 50% over our current facilities (including the Ark). Based on input from the congregation, staff and Conference advisors, the worship space in phase I will be designed to seat approximately 550 worshipers.
· Finances remain a challenge for this project and a constant prayer request. Bryan Sommers presented three revenue scenarios at our Dec. 8th meeting highlighting known and unknown variables for the committee's prayerful consideration as we make key design and scope decisions about phase I. Creativity will be required to achieve all of our objectives, particularly in the current economic climate. This will be a top priority for discussion at our January 15th meeting.
