LUMY 10/5

The place to be on Sunday nights is LUMY. It is the night to have your face rocked. You don’t want to miss it every Sunday night. In fact, Sunday bring a friend, they deserve some fun too. LUMY 101 (6th-and 7th-Graders) meets from 5:30-6:45 and LUMY (8th-12th-graders) meets from 6:30-8:15 both in the FLC/Wesley Hall. Also, please do not show up or drop off before your age group’s time (i.e. 5:30 or 6:30).

As the student ministry has continued to grow, we are having more people at youth which means we need more snacks to feed the students if we want to continue that portion of our meetings. We are purchasing a popcorn machine and also a nacho machine to help save families money. These items do cost quite a bit of money, so if you feel like you are able to give, please make checks out to LUMC and put “LUMY snacks” in the memo. We appreciate any offering you are able to give to help offset this cost.

Bible Study- Wednesday night Bible Studies are in full swing. 10th-12th grade meet from 5-6pm in Study Center 4 (across from the LUMY room). 6th-7th grade meet from 6:15-7pm in the LUMY room. And 8th and 9th grade meet from 7:15-8:15pm in Study Center 4.

Bonfire- On Thursday, October 16th, we are having a huge bonfire, pumpkin carving contest, food, hot cocoa, and great fun. We’ll meet at the church at 7pm and be back at about 10pm. More details to come

Mystery Trip- About every other year LUMY goes on a mystery trip for our 10th-12th-graders. This is a trip where no one (not even the parents know) where the students are going. This year the trip is Thursday, October 30th, through Saturday, November 1st. The cost is $70. This includes transportation, food, skydiving…whoops, I gave something away. Please sign up sooner rather than later. Let Andrew Beard know if you have any questions

College Connect- in our church, we want to be able to support our students as they move on from high school to college. One of the ways we reach them is by sending them “care packages.” So, we need your help with two things. 1, we need to start collecting $5 gift cards from chain stores (Starbucks, Target, Wal-Mart, McDonalds, Taco Bell, Subway, Sonic, etc). Please drop these gift cards in one of the LUMY Black Boxes. One is located outside the youth office (rm 206) and one is located outside the FLC/Wesley Hall. 2, we need to know who is in college and what their address is. To put some parameters on it, we need to know anyone who is between the ages of 17-24 and is taking any college classes. Please email this information to
Andrew.beard@lumcmo.org.

LUMY Coffee- this past year members of LUMY sold coffee to help raise money for summer mission work. We are still selling coffee, but we are currently just selling it out of our office. If you are interested in coffee or hot chocolate, please stop by the LUMY office (room 206) and pick some up for $10. We will start selling again during the services starting in November.
