LUMY 9/28

Sunday Night LUMY- Tonight, is bring a friend to LUMY Night. It’ll be “muy bueno.” LUMY 101 (6th-7th-graders) meets from 5:30-6:45. LUMY (8th-12th -graders) meets from 6:30-8:15. Both groups meet in the FLC/Wesley Hall. Also, please do not show up or drop off before your group’s time.

Snacks for LUMY- As our youth program grows, we are having more people at youth which means we need more snacks to feed them. We are purchasing a popcorn machine and also a nacho machine to help save money. These items do cost quite a bit of money, so if you are able to give, please make checks out to LUMC and put “LUMY snacks” in the memo. We appreciate any offering you are able to give.

Bible Study- Wednesday night Bible Studies are in full swing. 10th-12th grade meet from 5-6pm in Study Center 4 (across from the LUMY room). 6th and 7th meet from 6:15-7pm in the LUMY Room. And 8th and 9th grade meet from 7:15-8:15pm in Study Center 4.

His Voice for Sudan- On October 12th LUMY is having a special event. LUMY fully supports international mission work. We support an orphanage in Guatemala by going and serving with the people, and we will continue this service indefinitely. The new opportunity that we have is partnering with a group called His Voice for Sudan. This ministry is dear to our hearts as Sarah has served in Sudan as a part of this ministry. There are currently two orphanages; one in Morobo and one in Lura. They are looking to build another. We have partnered with them to make a difference in a lost world looking for hope. We hope that you will partner with us. Join us on Sunday, October 12th at 6:30pm in the FLC/Wesley Hall for an ALL LUMY, all church, and all family and friends event to hear His Voice for Sudan. That night you will have an opportunity to support His Voice by purchasing screen-printed shirts made on site or photographs of the orphans in Sudan.

College Connect- In our church, we want to be able to support our students as they move on from high school to college. One of the ways we reach them is by sending them “care packages” around finals time to know that people back home are thinking of them. To be sensitive to what students want and/or need, we are excited to announce that we will now send them gift cards to use at their own discretion during those busy times of the school year. So, we need your help with two things. 1, we need to start collecting $5 gift cards from chain stores (Starbucks, Target, Taco Bell, Subway, Sonic, etc). Please drop these gift cards in one of the LUMY Black Boxes located outside the youth office (rm 206) or outside the FLC/Wesley Hall. 2, we need to know who is in college and what their address is if they are between the ages of 17-24 and are taking any college classes. Please email this information to Andrew.beard@lumcmo.org.

Please let us know if you have any questions, comments, or prayer requests.
