LUMY 6/22

LUMY is Liberty United Methodist Youth. We are the ministry at Liberty United Methodist Church for students 6th grade thru 12th grade. We do a variety of activities, studies, and service projects. Let Andrew Beard or Sarah Beard know if you have questions.

We previously had scheduled LUMY and an After Party on Sunday, June 22nd, but those have both been canceled. So, THERE IS NO LUMY OR AFTER PARTY ON SUNDAY, JUNE 22ND. Many of us will be in New Orleans on a Mission Trip that Sunday. I apologize for any confusion. Please keep us in prayers that week while we are traveling back and forth and working in Louisiana.
This summer LUMY is having two different studies in addition to Sunday Night LUMY. One will be for students going into 9th-11th grade and the other will be for the new Seniors and recent Grads. Since the meetings are at Sarah and Andrew’s house, we need an additional permission slip filled out. You can pick up one of the permission slips at LUMY or from the LUMY office (rm 206) at church.
9th-11th-Graders- We are doing a study on Christianity and World Religions. We meet Monday mornings at 9:00am at the Beards’ home (40 S. Jewell) on 6/30, 7/14, 7/28, 8/4. Basically every other Monday. Even if you missed the first two weeks, please come the next time we meet on 6/30.
12th-13th-Graders- We are doing a study on Prayer called when God’s People Pray. We meet Wednesday mornings at the Beards' home (my house again, 40 S. Jewell) on 7/2, 7/16, 7/30, 8/6. Basically every other Wednesday. Even if you missed the first two weeks, please come the next time we meet.

Every year our church does local mission work around the Kansas City area. This work is called Faithworks. This year Faithworks will go from Monday, June 7th-Thursday, June 10th. The cost for the whole week is only $15. That money will cover a light breakfast before we head out each morning, lunch, supplies for the mission work, and a Faithworks t-shirt. We’ll head out each day about 8am and be back around 4pm. Wednesday night we’ll have a lock-in and Thursday night we’ll have a BBQ to end the week. If you cannot come every day due to practices or work that is fine, but we would like you to commit to being there at least 2 days. This event is open to students going into the 7th grade thru recent grads. Let Andrew or Sarah know if you have any questions and to get signed up.

The summer calendars are currently available. Please pick one up so you are in the know. You can pick them up at any LUMY event, at the FLC Entrance, and at the Front Entrance to the Church. Here are some upcoming events;
Tuesday, June 17th- Worlds of Fun. New 8th-Graders-Recent Grads. Meet at 9:45am. Leave at 10:00am. Back to church about 5:15pm. Bring your own ticket/pass and money for food.
Saturday, June 21st-28th- New Orleans Mission Trip. Please pray for safe travels and that we are God’s hands and feet.
Sunday, June 22nd- NO LUMY. We will be in New Orleans on our mission trip.
Sunday, June 29th- Sunday Night LUMY and After Party
Sunday, July 6th- Sunday Night LUMY and After Party
Monday, July 7th-10th- Faithworks local mission trip
