Sunday School Lesson: This week’s lesson comes from 2 Kings 4:1-7. In this week’s story we see how God worked through Elisha to help a widow lady who did not have enough oil in her house. Ask your child about the miracle of the oil. Elisha used what he had to make a difference. Talk with your children about using what you have to make a difference.
The Children’s Sunday School committee is recruiting volunteers to help research and write offering/stewardship curriculum for the 2008-2009 children’s Sunday School year. If you would be interested in helping with the awesome task of providing financial materials that are meaningful and understandable for children, please contact Eric Thon at 415-2592, or Sondra Buell at 781-4554, ext. 115.
This year’s Vacation Bible School theme is “God’s Big Backyard.” Do you have photos of your kids doing fun things in your backyard? Do you have a tree house in your backyard? If so, bring in a photo or send a copy to Sondra.Buell@lumcmo.org , and we’ll include the photo on our Backyard Bulletin Board for VBS.
“HIS Kids” practice the John Wesley motto through their Mission Projects:
Do all the good you can ~ By all the means you can ~ In all the ways you can
In all the places you can ~ At all the times you can ~ To all the people you can
As long as ever you can!
“Do all the good you can . . .” came alive as the children in “HIS Kids” lovingly reached out this past year in mission and service projects to those around them, those less fortunate than them, and those who live in countries around the world.” Projects included:
o a canned food drive for Hillcrest ministries complete with a field trip to stock their pantry shelves;
o yard clean-up work at Hillcrest Ministries;
o making tray favors for the Kansas food kitchen;
o making and giving away cocoa mugs while Christmas caroling;
o collecting first-aid supplies for the children at Spofford Home;
o making and writing cards and letters for shut-ins,
o children in Africa, and members participating in mission projects;
o collecting money in Lenten Banks for the Energy of Hope orphanage;
o gathering books for Children’s Mercy Hospital;
o serving at the Kansas Food Kitchen
o making appreciation gifts for public school teachers
Thank you, kids! Thank you, parents, for your help! You have been a blessing. May you be richly blessed!
