The Missions Work Area is planning a mission work trip (for persons 14 years or older) to Crow Creek Reservation in South Dakota June 8-14. We will be working with Sicangu Lakota people of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe. Rosebud Reservation is located about 60 miles southeast from Pierre, South Dakota. Mission teams assist with repairs to homes, churches, shelters, youth center, daycare facilities, etc. Other tasks available are sewing, working in the Thrift Shop or Food Pantry, cooking in the hot lunch program, providing VBS at a local church, and much more. There are always varied work projects to keep team members busy.
The cost of this VIM mission trip is $200-$275, which covers food, transportation, lodging, and building materials. We can provide transportation for about 35 people. Seventeen have already signed up. We are trying to finalize our plans for transportation, food, and lodging accommodations, so if you are interested in being a part of this mission experience, please contact Everett Easley at the church office, 781-4554. A $100 application fee will be due from each participant wishing to go. This will help secure our team’s date on the calendar. A second informational meeting will be held April 27, 2008, at 4pm in Ark 2.
We will be there to appreciate, to understand, to learn, to make friends and to nurture the hope that the Lakota People have in themselves. We are looking forward to a great week where we will come together to do God's work.
